ENLISTED ASSOCIATION OF THE NATIONAL GUARD OF
UTAH
and USAA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Enlisted Association of the National Guard of
Utah has established a Scholarship Program. The following
individuals are eligible:
1. EANGUT members
2. Sons and daughters of EANGUT members
3. Spouses of EANGUT members
4. Spouses and unmarried dependent sons and
daughters of deceased EANGUT members who were in good standings at
the time of their death.
EANGUT member applicants, parent or guardian of
unmarried sons and daughters who are applicants and members whose
spouse is an applicant must have at least one (1) year remaining on
his/her enlistment following completion of the school year for which
application is submitted, or have served 20 or more years of
service.
EANGUT scholarships will be awarded in the amount of
$1,000.00 for the current school year of applications, and
applicants be a high school senior or be enrolled as students at a
college, university, trade, or business school. Students beginning
school must have received a letter of acceptance from the eligible
college, university, trade, or business school. Graduate students
are not eligible for scholarships.
USAA scholarships will be awarded in the amount of
$500.00 and matched by EANGUT with an additional $500.00 for a total
of $1,000 for the current school year of application, and applicants
must be enrolled or enroll as students at a college, university, or
business school. Graduate students are not eligible for
scholarships.
Awards will be sent directly to the recipient with
each check made payable to the recipient's choice of school. To
receive the awards, verification will be required to the effect that
enrollment has commenced.
There shall be no consideration whatsoever given
because of friendship, rank or grade of applicant, applicant's
parents, or applicant's spouse. Neither shall the applicant's
geographical place of residence be considered. Awards will be made
on the basis of scholarship, character, leadership and need
All applications will be accompanied by:
1. A transcript of high school credits and/or a
transcript of college credits for applicants in institutions of
higher learning.
2. A letter from applicant with personal, specific
facts as to his/her desire to continue his/her education and why
financial assistance is requested.
3. Three (3) letters of recommendation verifying
the application and giving general moral and personal traits (these
should be from community leaders, ministers, elected officials,
principal, counselor, dean or professor).
Former recipients of an EANGUT Scholarship Award are
not eligible to reapply; those persons who have applied for
scholarship award and were not selected may reapply.
If the recipient does not complete the school term
for which the scholarship is awarded, due to any cause other than
sickness or physical injury, the recipient will refund the award to
the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of Utah within sixty
(60) days from the date enrollment has terminated.

Each application will be reviewed for completeness
and approved by the scholarship committee. Applications must
include all of the required materials.
Deadline date for all applications for scholarship
will be observed in all instances.
Membership status of applicant will be verified by
EANGUT Membership Chairman.
The composition of the EANGUT Scholarship Committee
shall be made up as follows:
1. Chairman: This person will be appointed by the
President of EANGUT and shall have no vote in the selection except
to break a tie vote.
2. The remainder of the Committee will consist of at
least 3 people and be appointed by the Committee Chair.
There will be one scholarship awarded each year. The
applications for scholarships must be received no later than 31
July, of the year for which application is being made.
